The objectives in each work package are:

WP 1: Project management and co-ordination

  • Training of the consortium members on data handling procedures, gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Develop and implement Quality management Plan
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Financial management and reporting

WP 2: University –Industry partnerships

  • To determine and address partnership related factors that constrain teaching, research and technology transfer in HEIs.
  • To organize HEI-industry forums, events and conferences culminating in a long term engagement platform.
  • To develop strategies, tools and capacity of HEIs to network with industry, academic and research institutions, and innovation hubs.
  • To improve management systems, structures and policies for efficient service delivery and improved partnerships.

WP 3: Improved teaching methods in innovative curriculum

  • Identify and address the misalignment between agriculture teaching curriculum and the skills for employability and entrepreneurship.
  • To develop, test and implement new learning methods and resources for agriculture courses in HEIs
  • To develop, test and adapt innovative agriculture teaching curriculum emphasizing employability, entrepreneurship and self-reliance
  • To implement policy and other reforms to entrench roles of industry actors in teaching the agriculture courses.

WP 4: Innovation and entrepreneurial capacity strengthening

  • Develop capacity of existing and new incubation centers to manage and commercialize university intellectual property.
  • Developing operational guidelines and sustainable business models for different types and scales of incubators.
  • Developing framework for supporting and incubating green agri-innovations, business ideas and start-ups in HEIs.

WP 5: Communication and dissemination of project outputs

  • Achieve a critical mass of stakeholders and maximize outreach for UPLIFT-Ag with targeted messaging and customized content.
  • Diffuse the innovative teaching methods tested in the UPLIFT-Ag project and promote their application in other agriculture teaching HEIs.
  • Create visibility of the impactful HEI-industry partnerships thereby motivate the emergence of more partnerships that support teaching/ learning, innovation and entrepreneurial capacity of HEIs.
  • Obtain feedback from key stakeholders to ensure the activities of the UPLIFT project remain in the right direction.
  • Align and integrate the dissemination, communication and institutional capacity building efforts to ensure sustainability of projects outputs and outcomes.
  • Nurture a collaborative framework that stimulates synergy with other projects, and strengthens the existing EU-AU partnerships
The UPLIFT-Ag project has brought together 9 HEIs from 4 countries in Africa, partnering with 3 HEIs in Europe and a wide range of non-HEI actors in the different countries
